Receding gums generally happens to of adults aged forty and over, but can happen in individuals of any age. It may be triggered by an exposure from the teeth roots and gum tissue loss. Oil Pulling has been known as a good treatment for receding gums which not only benefits receding gums but can be used for whitening of teeth as well. It can also refresh breath and can be a good remedy for gingivitis and gum bleeding.
The anti-bacterial properties of oil can improve oral hygiene. There are studies that have proven that “Oil Pulling” can also act as anti-oxidant because it removes harmful toxins in the mouth.
Some of the treatments are mentioned as below which will help us in the treatment of receding gums:
Put at least one tablespoonful of sesame oil in your mouth, whoosh it gradually about your mouth as in case you were rinsing it with a breath freshener or a mouthwash. Then gradually suck inside the oil as if “pulling” it within your teeth. Do that more than and more than again for 10-20 minutes. You can spit it out when the oil becomes thinner and whiter as if mixed with saliva.
If the oil is still thick and yellow, then you have not performed “oil pulling” very well. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to make certain that bacteria have already been removed through the receding gums, teeth and tongue.
Surgical Methods of Growing back Gum
Basically there are two methods of receding gums:
Soft Tissue Graft – this involves taking gum tissue from other parts of the mouth, placing it over the exposed places and suturing them in place. It requires only mild painkilling treatment and lasts for a lifetime with proper care.
Bone Grafts – Special membranes are inserted to protect it and assist in bone regeneration. The exposure of the root can lead to atrophy of the jawbone as a result of bacterial infection. Bone grafts can grow back the bone, making it easier to hold teeth and gum. Bone tissue can be taken from the jaw, hip, or tibia and placed in the jawbone
Surgical gum recession treatment methods are employed in more advanced cases, where the receded gum line is unlikely to grow back with simple means.
